For more than ten years, Grimaud Frères has been using scanner selection measurements in its waterfowl selection programs. This non-invasive, animal-friendly tool provides very high-resolution images. Each candidate for selection is measured individually with great precision. Algorithms developed specifically for this purpose are then used to predict meat qualities, such as fillet or carcass yield. Body composition is also analyzed, such as the fat mass or bone density of each individual. Geneticists can thus select the best individuals to meet the challenges of the industry with an unparalleled approach.
With more than 3 million acquisitions to date, Grimaud Frères is further intensifying its selection efforts by acquiring a new scanner. This new model incorporates major technological innovations, offering optimized image quality and 20% higher spatial resolution for even finer details. Better discrimination between individuals allows for more efficient selection of Muscovy and Peking ducks. Surrounded by strong partners and imaging experts, Grimaud Frères is opening up even more possibilities.
Thanks to our expertise and innovative spirit, we aim to meet the expectations of today and tomorrow and fully consolidate our position as a leader in the selection of gourmet species.
