{"id":78249,"date":"2024-05-14T15:07:00","date_gmt":"2024-05-14T14:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/grimaudfreres.com\/actualite-grimaud-freres\/actu\/highly-pathogenic-avian-influenza-a-success-for-vaccination-in-france\/"},"modified":"2024-05-14T15:07:00","modified_gmt":"2024-05-14T14:07:00","slug":"highly-pathogenic-avian-influenza-a-success-for-vaccination-in-france","status":"publish","type":"actu","link":"https:\/\/grimaudfreres.com\/en\/actualite-grimaud-freres\/actu\/highly-pathogenic-avian-influenza-a-success-for-vaccination-in-france\/","title":{"rendered":"HIGHLY PATHOGENIC AVIAN INFLUENZA A SUCCESS FOR VACCINATION IN FRANCE"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\r\n<p><strong>On October 1, 2023, France became the first country in Europe &#8211; and the only one to date &#8211; to introduce vaccination against avian flu in ducks.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>It was feared that many third countries would close their borders to French genetics and\/or poultry products while they studied the new situation.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In fact, it turned out that most countries easily understood the strategy put in place by France:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Compulsory vaccination of all CS ducks in mainland France (with the exception of Corsica) applies only to ducks destined for the French market.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>All ducklings destined for export are NOT vaccinated, nor do they come from vaccinated flocks. The same applies to hatching eggs.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-74699\" src=\"https:\/\/grimaudfreres.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Vaccination-influenza-newsletter-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"325\" height=\"488\" \/><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Against this backdrop, France has decided to provide precise information to help everyone understand the vaccination action plan. A number of essential subjects have been detailed in explanatory sheets available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/agriculture.gouv.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.agriculture.gouv.fr<\/a> website:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>1. Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI): the French vaccination strategy<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>2. Available and effective HPAI vaccines in circulation<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>3. Implementation of a vaccination trial program for mulard ducks on farms<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>4. Presentation of the scenario envisaged for HPAI vaccination in France<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>5. Reinforced post-vaccination surveillance program<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>6. Biosecurity measures<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>7. The Data recording system<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>8. Restrictions on movements of vaccinated animals and their products<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>9. Outbreak management in the context of vaccination<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>10. Communication<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-74697\" src=\"https:\/\/grimaudfreres.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Vaccination-influenza-newsletter.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"369\" height=\"207\" \/><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\r\n<p>To date, only three (3) countries have temporarily closed their borders to avian genetics (all species) and poultry products: Japan, USA and Canada.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Exemptions are currently being negotiated to enable companies in these countries to continue to benefit from the valuable contribution of French genetics.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>France&#8217;s strategy has proved effective, with only X HPAI cases recorded in the duck industry between summer 2023 and the time of writing this.
